First Aid Training

We offer a variety of first aid construction courses to meet the requirements of your site. Courses can be held at your site or at our training centre in Cambridgeshire.

Emergency First Aid and Emergency Appointed Persons Courses are designed for people who want to receive training in emergency first aid and is especially suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments.

All learners will have the skills and knowledge to provide the organisation with Emergency First Aider’s that can provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner.

One Day Emergency First Aid At Work

Course duration: 1 day

Certification: ITC or NUCO certification available

Who Should Attend?   This course is designed for people who want to receive training in emergency first aid and is especially suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments.

Course Content:

  • Health and safety (first aid) regulations.
  • Managing an incident.
  • The priorities of first aid.
  • Treatment of an unconscious casualty.
  • Resuscitation
  • Shock
  • Choking
  • Seizures
  • Bleeding
  • Common workplace injuries

Additional Information: This course is ideal for smaller workplaces that present few health and safety risks.

Two Day First Aid Refresher Course

Course duration: 2 days

Certification: ITC or NUCO certification available

Three Day First Aid At Work Course

To provide comprehensive first aid training for the workplace. This course is more in depth than Emergency 1st Aid (Appointed Person) and provides the knowledge, skills and confidence for people to deal with casualties in an emergency.

Who should attend? Those required to provide 1st aid in the workplace and particularly for those in organisations with over 50 employees.

Course Content:

  • Provide Emergency 1st Aid at Work
  • Administer 1st Aid to a casualty with
  • Injuries to bones, muscles and joints (including suspected spinal injuries)
  • Chest injuries, burns and scalds
  • Eye injuries
  • Sudden poisoning and Anaphylactic shock
  • Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid (heart attack, stroke, asthma, diabetes)

Venue: First Aid at Work courses can be delivered at NTSS Ltd Training Facility or at your premises as a dedicated course.

Certification: Delegates successfully completing the course will be awarded a HSE Approved Certificate.

First Aid for Mental Health Course

This 1-Day course covers the content of the Level 1 course but also expands on the effects of drugs and alcohol, incorporates the First Aid for

Mental Health Action Plan and covers ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported within a workplace.

Course Content:

A range of First Aid for Mental Health related subjects are covered including:

  • What is First Aid for Mental Health?
  • Identifying mental health conditions
  • Providing advice and starting a conversation
  • Stress
  • Mental health conditions
  • Drugs and alcohol
  • First Aid for Mental Health action plan
  • First Aid for Mental Health in the workplace

Who should attend? Those required to provide 1st aid in the workplace and particularly for those in organisations with over 50 employees.

Venue: First Aid at Work courses can be delivered at NTSS Ltd Training Facility or at your premises as a dedicated course.

Certification: Delegates successfully completing the course will be awarded a Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health. There is no expiry of the qualification, but annual refresher training is recommended.

Supervising First Aid for Mental Health Course

This 2-Day course goes into detail on a wide range of mental health conditions and the support and help provided by healthcare professionals.  It covers the content of both the Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications but is aimed at Trainer/Assessors and/or supervisor level within the workplace.

Course Content:

A range of First Aid for Mental Health related subjects are covered including:

  • What is First Aid for Mental Health?
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Identifying mental health conditions
  • Self-harm
  • Providing advice and starting a conversation
  • Suicide
  • Stress
  • Eating disorders
  • Mental health conditions
  • Personality disorders
  • Drugs and alcohol
  • Bipolar disorder
  • First Aid for Mental Health action plan
  • Psychosis
  • First Aid for Mental Health in the workplace
  • Schizophrenia
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

Venue: This course can be delivered at NTSS Ltd Training Facility or at your premises as a dedicated course.

Certification: Delegates successfully completing the course will be awarded a Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health.  There is no expiry of the qualification, but annual refresher training is recommended.
